The difficulties attending the building of

the Railway (as already proposed) from Macao to Cantón chiefly

with regard to the number of waterways to cross does not as

yet seem to have forced itself upon the Portuguese Authorities.

In conclusion I submit that I do not con➡

-sider any port at present exists - with the exception of

Whampoa Anchorage - that could be utilized in the manner

suggested without enormous outlays of money and doubtful results.

I attach herewith a rough sketch of the position of the Sunning

Railway and surroundings demonstrating the projected railway to

Kongmun and Canton.
